A Challenge and Privilege

My friend Heather sent me a box a few week ago and has asked me to put her old family albums into a scrapbook. The box arrived and all I can say is that I have never seen such organization in these albums.  Many of the photos have names written on them, as well as the year. These albums are really a beautiful testimony to this family, but sad to say that the actual albums are falling apart. It is now my privilege to put them in a new one (or two or three).

Today was the day  to get started. I am inspired! I am literally taking the photos by year and transposing them. These photos range in size from 2×3 all the way up to 4×6 so far.  The photos begin about 1939, I am currently just completely 1942 so I have a few more years to go. It is a challenge when you are scrapbooking for someone else, guessing the style they might like, hoping they are happy, also not really knowing the stories behind the photos. It is interestng to see little things written on the back of the pictures though, and the story can start to come alive. As you continue on,  seeing the children growing in the pictures, the happy faces on their wedding day , the people start to live. This project is truly a privilege. So today is the beginning, I look forward to the journey and I hope you follow me as I continue this adventure.

Trail Market on the Esplanade

What a day. I am exhausted! Another year has come around and Karen and I are back at the market by the river. It was sunny and warm, finally. Other than the gusts of wind, it was a really beautiful day. Karen has worked hard the last few months to get new packaging organized for her fudge and even developed a few new flavors. The big hit of the day was Chai, boy was it delish.

I always worry the first market… Do I have enough product? Is there enough variety?  What can offer that is new since the last time? Will anyone like it? So this week I worked hard crafting and today was finally here. I could almost say it was a bust. A few things sold but was not a good day for me in general.  I did meet some awesome people, had a few laughs and have an order or two, so not all bad. Now it is time to put my thinking cap on though and try to come up with some new ideas. So if anyone is looking for me, I will be in my craft room (what else is new right?).

I thought I would share with you a few items I made for this week.

The tea box has become one of my favourite things to decoupage. I always love hoe they turn out.

These are made to order, I wish i could have gotten a picture with no reflection.

I love making these! just glad I don't dream of mice anymore when I do.

These are a blast to make, each one is so different and they are such a quick project! Just glad I don’t dream of mice anymore when I do.

Wilson Family Movies

Our family is so fortunate to have old movies that my Grandpa took in the 1950’s and 60’s. A few years ago my oldest brother put them onto DVD, which was a real undertaking. With them being so old, they were very brittle and would break when they were put into the projector. As a kid growing up it was a real treat so be able to watch them up on the big screen. To see my mom as a little girl visiting the London Zoo, seeing my great Grandparents, watching my grandpa drive across the brand new Trail Bridge. These movies are pretty special. A few of my grandparents friends have shown some interest in wanting to see the old movies so my aunt has decided to throw a movie night. Today I worked on the invitation, I even included a few pictures from the film.
